Dr. Sabine Fröhlich stands for holistic and long-term health and advises people on all medical matters. We were able to conduct an interview with her and learned why a combination of diagnostic methods is usually required to understand the language of the body. She tells us what methods she uses and why intestinal health plays a central role in her therapy.
Thank you for taking the time for an interview. Please start by introducing yourself: who are you and what do you do?
My name is Sabine Fröhlich, I am a general practitioner and have been working in complementary medicine for many years. I am a passionate holistic doctor and I love looking at people in an all-encompassing way. This requires more time, but is more fulfilling and healing for doctor and patient than quick symptom treatment.
Your website says: “It usually requires a combination of diagnostic methods to understand the language of the body.” Can you explain this in more detail?
First of all, of course, I listen to everything a patient reports and sort it out in the best possible way in which direction it could go. I often use test methods that can give me even more information about a holistic diagnosis. This can be pulse feeling and tongue observation in TCM, but also tests to determine minerals in whole blood or hormone tests, cortisol stress tests and - very importantly - microbiome tests. I have a wealth of methods at hand to take a closer look at a person,
Among other things, you work with diagnostics and therapy according to FX Mayr. What makes this therapy so unique and why does the intestine play a special role here?
The intestine is the central station where our energy is produced. In addition, together with the kidneys, it excretes everything that we do not need. A healthy gut is the root of our well-being. It's not just about the food we eat, but also how we can digest it and use it for our benefit. The best salad is of no use if it is eaten at the wrong time, is devoured too quickly, or if the nutrients cannot be absorbed by a sick intestine. In Mayr Medicine, the intestine, its function, its health and its bacterial colonization are the focus of the entire therapy.
How did you become aware of the topic of intestinal health?
Through my training as an FX Mayr doctor 23 years ago! Since then I have been intensively involved with this wonderful therapy method.
“ Healthy gut, healthy person.” What comes to mind when you hear this statement?
The intestine as a sorting and excretion organ is of essential importance as we humans are supplied with nutrients. Therefore, the ultimate goal, in addition to a healthy diet, is to always pay attention to the function of the intestines.
What does therapy or counseling look like for you, what is the process like?
At the first appointment there is a long conversation lasting an hour. I listen to everything and then make therapy suggestions. My patients also receive this in writing. I also offer telemedicine, which means you can discuss everything that is possible online this way. This works perfectly. A video consultation has the advantage that patients who live further away or are based abroad can easily get in touch with me. I have special practice software for this, where these conversations take place in a data-protected manner.
Which people come to you?
Actually everyone, both mothers with children, young people with Long Covid illness, for example, but also older patients who would like to have a holistic look at them.
What is your personal tip for a good gut feeling?
Everything has to feel light, both physically in my stomach itself, but also mentally. If life seems difficult, if you are dissatisfied, if you keep having worrying thoughts, you should look at how you can regain lightness in life. This can be due to lifestyle, but can also be caused by mineral deficiencies. Here the intestine simply plays a crucial role again, because 80% of the serotonin in the body is produced in the intestine and that is our happiness hormone.
