Fruity, refreshing, and nutrient-rich: Our watermelon and blueberry ice cream with myBioma Balance proves that a gut-healthy diet is anything but boring!

That's why this ice cream is a gut-friendly treat

Our gut microbiome loves prebiotic fibre, polyphenols, and omega-3 fatty acids - so we loaded our ice cream recipe with plenty of these nourishing ingredients! Here are the health benefits at a glance:

Oats

Oats are rich in soluble fibre, particularly beta-glucans, which are converted by bacteria in the large intestine into short-chain fatty acids such as butyrate. Short-chain fatty acids are particularly important for a healthy intestinal mucosa. Beta-glucans also have anti-inflammatory effects, regulate blood sugar levels, and are beneficial for our heart health and immune system among other things.

Studies also show that regular consumption of oats can promote beneficial bacteria such as bifidobacteria and lactobacilli (1).

Linseeds & linseed oil

Linseeds are rightly known as a local superfood: Their fibre content supports our microbiome, and their mucilaginous (gel-forming) properties promote smooth digestion. This helps combat constipation and hard stools effectively.

In addition, linseeds provide secondary plant substances such as lignans, which support our health as valuable antioxidants (2).

When linseeds are ground, their structure is broken down and their valuable nutrients become more accessible to our body.

Tip: Ideally, freshly grind your linseeds just before eating, using a grinder or mortar. If you buy pre-ground linseeds, make sure to consume them within a few months and store them airtight in the fridge. Otherwise, they tend to go rancid quickly, which makes them rather harmful than beneficial.

Linseed oil contains high amounts of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a plant-based omega-3 fatty acid with anti-inflammatory potential. It is one of the healthiest plant oils, which can have a positive effect on our mental well-being and skin health, among other things (2).

Caution: Linseed oil should not be heated and should always be stored in the refrigerator.

Watermelon

Watermelons are not only a particularly refreshing summer snack, but also contain important micronutrients such as vitamins C and A. Also particularly noteworthy are their high levels of L-citrulline and lycopene. L-citrulline is an amino acid that, among other things, plays a role in digestive processes and can improve blood circulation and regeneration. Lycopene is a secondary plant compound responsible for the melon's red colour and, as a powerful antioxidant, protects our cells (3).

Blueberries

Blueberries are colourful health boosters rich in polyphenols like anthocyanins. These support our immune system and brain health, among other things. A large portion of these compounds reach the large intestine, where they act as prebiotics - feeding beneficial gut bacteria and promoting a diverse microbiome (4).

Dried blueberries are also one of the four ingredients in our prebiotic fibre complex myBioma Balance.

myBioma Balance – premium prebiotic supplement

Prebiotics are fibres that have a positive effect on the composition of your gut microbiome and ensure that, for example, bifidobacteria and lactobacilli can work diligently. You can learn more about it in this blog article: Prebiotics and Probiotics - can they really impact our health?

Our prebiotic supplement myBioma Balance (as the name suggests) supports a balanced microbiome – in a gentle but effective way. The main ingredients, acacia fibre and guar gum, are considered particularly well-tolerated – even for people who are sensitive to other prebiotics such as inulin. The polyphenols from blueberries and ginger complement the health-promoting effects with their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. If you would like to learn more about the individual ingredients, take a look at this blog article: myBioma Balance: These ingredients make the prebiotic so effective.

Normally, the prebiotic is simply dissolved in a glass of water and consumed sip by sip. Our ice cream recipe offers a delicious twist on your daily intake routine, bringing a soothing treat for the hot season.

Tip: For even more microbiome support, enjoy the ice cream mindfully and without distractions. This activates the gut-brain axis and signals to the body: Time for relaxation and digestion!

Give it a try and let us know in the comments if you enjoy the ice cream as much as we do. ☀️
