    What our customers say

    FAQs

What are the advantages of the Ultimate Test compared to the Advanced Test?

The Ultimate Test goes beyond the Advanced Test to provide an even more holistic view of your health. In addition to all Advanced Test features, you receive:

    • Insights into your mental & physical well-being – see how your microbiome influences mood, stress resilience, energy, and recovery.
    • A detailed metabolic health analysis – including blood sugar regulation, blood pressure, gut-liver axis, and thyroid function.
    • Personalized recommendations – tailored to these additional health areas.
How long does the analysis take?

Once your sample arrives at our laboratory, we begin by extracting the DNA and preparing it for sequencing. The sample is then processed using bioinformatics, which allows us to generate a detailed and comprehensive report. Due to the complexity and precision involved in the analysis, it usually takes about 2 weeks to complete. This ensures that you receive an accurate and thorough result.

    Is the test scientifically validated?

The test is scientifically validated and based on Next-Generation DNA Sequencing (NGS), the most advanced method for DNA analysis. This technology allows us to analyse the DNA of your gut bacteria in detail and identify over 5000 different bacterial species. By doing so, we can determine exactly which bacteria are present in your stool and how they may relate to your health. The analysis results are processed using bioinformatics, ensuring comprehensive and precise insights from complex data. Our tests are developed in close collaboration with leading European universities, regularly reviewed, and consistently updated to reflect the latest research.

How will I receive my test results?

Your results will be presented clearly and comprehensively on the myBioma platform, which you can access at any time from your smartphone, tablet, or computer. This way, you always have your results at hand and can easily integrate your personalised recommendations into your daily routine. You will be kept informed of the status of your sample and when your results are ready via email.

How does the test help improve my gut health?

By analysing your unique microbiome, we can create personalised recommendations based on your test results, helping you to improve your gut health. We understand that changing your diet can be challenging, so we ensure that the advice is easy to follow and integrate into your everyday life. Additionally, if you have any questions or need further guidance, our support team is always available to help.

Can this test help me identify if I have leaky gut, SIBO, IBS, or gluten sensitivity?

We do not provide medical diagnoses, but we can indicate how your gut bacteria may be related to conditions such as leaky gut, SIBO, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), or gluten sensitivity. If your test results show a potential link between your gut bacteria and these symptoms, we recommend consulting a healthcare professional for further investigation and diagnosis.

What is included in the cost of the test?

Our goal is not to offer the cheapest test, but rather the best and most comprehensive microbiome analysis. The price covers everything you need, from the testing kit itself (which includes a stool sample tube, instructions, and stool collection tools) to the shipping costs for sending your sample to the lab and returning your results. It also includes the complex, cutting-edge laboratory analysis, the bioinformatic processing, and the creation of your personalised recommendations. Behind these processes is a dedicated team that ensures every step, from product development to logistics, is carried out smoothly and to the highest standard.

How often should I take a microbiome test?

Your gut microbiome is not only unique but also dynamic – it changes due to your diet, lifestyle, environmental factors, and even stress. Regular testing helps you monitor these changes and make informed adjustments. We recommend testing your microbiome every 3 to 6 months to keep track of any significant changes and respond appropriately.

What is the difference between the myBioma test and a standard stool test at a local clinic?

A stool test at a clinic or your GP usually involves stool cultures and is typically used to identify specific pathogens. These tests are useful for diagnosing infections. The myBioma test, on the other hand, offers a much deeper analysis of your microbiome. Using the most advanced Next-Generation DNA Sequencing technology, we can identify over 1,500 different types of bacteria and provide detailed insights into the composition and function of your gut microbiome. This means you won’t just learn which bacteria are present, but also how they affect your overall health.

    What makes myBioma special?

myBioma stands out due to its exceptionally detailed microbiome analysis. While many other providers perform more basic tests, myBioma goes much deeper. We extract bacterial DNA, amplify it through PCR, and carry out precise NGS (Next-Generation Sequencing) analysis. This allows us to identify bacteria down to the species level, such as Faecalibacterium prausnitzii, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Akkermansia muciniphila. This enables us to provide very specific insights into your microbiome. Additionally, myBioma is the first company worldwide to be certified for microbiome analysis according to ISO 13485, which highlights the high quality and reliability of our tests. We also use innovative algorithms to predict bacterial metabolic processes based on DNA analysis, allowing for an even more comprehensive evaluation.

Can the cost of the test be covered by my health insurance?

Some private health insurers cover certain costs. If you have private insurance, please contact us directly at reimbursement@mybioma.com, and we will assist you with submitting your myBioma invoice. If at least 50% of your myBioma invoice is reimbursed, we can help you with the remaining costs. Unfortunately, at present, statutory health insurance companies do not cover these costs.

Is my data safe with myBioma?

Protecting your data is our top priority. All your information is encrypted and stored on secure servers in Austria. We will never share your data with insurance companies, banks, or advertisers. Your privacy is very important to us, and you can trust that your data is safe with myBioma.

Is there an overview of all bacteria found in the sample?

Yes, the myBioma report includes a list of all bacteria identified in the analysis. For each bacterium, the relative abundance and reference range are also provided.
