      What our customers say

      FAQs

How long does the evaluation take?

After your sample arrives at our laboratory, we extract the DNA and prepare it for sequencing. We then process the sample bioinformatically, so that you receive a clear and detailed report. Due to the complexity and accuracy of the analysis, the analysis takes approx. 3-4 weeks.

      Is the test scientifically proven?

The test is scientifically sound and is based on next-generation DNA sequencing (NGS). This is the most modern method for DNA determination. With this method, we can analyse the DNA of your bacteria in detail and identify over 5000 different types of bacteria. This enables us to determine exactly which bacteria are in your faeces and how they relate to your health. The results of the analyses are processed bioinformatically in order to gain comprehensive and precise insights from the complex data. Our tests are developed in close collaboration with renowned European universities, regularly reviewed and always kept up to date with the latest research.

How do I get my test results?

You will receive your results in a clearly organised format on the myBioma platform. You can access them anytime and anywhere from your smartphone, tablet or computer. This means you always have your results to hand and can integrate your recommendations into your everyday life even more easily. You will be informed about the status of your sample and the completion of your results by email.

How does the test help to improve my gut health?

By analysing your individual microbiome in detail, we can create personalised recommendations based on your results to help you improve your gut health. We know that changing your diet can be a challenge, so your recommendations are formulated and presented in an easy-to-understand way so that you can easily integrate them into your everyday life. If you have any questions, you can always contact our support team.

Can I use the test to find out whether I have leaky gut, SIBO, irritable bowel syndrome or gluten sensitivity?

We do not make diagnoses, but show you to what extent your gut bacteria are associated with symptoms such as leaky gut, SIBO, irritable bowel syndrome or gluten sensitivity. If the results show a possible link between your gut bacteria and your symptoms, we recommend that you consult a doctor.

Which myBioma microbiome test is right for you?
      • Basic Test – Your entry point into gut health: Ideal for those who want to gain first insights and receive targeted nutrition tips. Includes key baseline values such as microbial diversity and dysbiosis index – also perfect for regular prevention.
      • Advanced Test – For those who want to know more: Provides deeper insights into how your microbiome affects immune function, skin, weight, and potential issues like leaky gut or IBS. Especially suitable if you experience symptoms or want extended preventive care.
      • Ultimate Test – The most comprehensive myBioma test: In addition to all Advanced Test features, it also analyzes how your microbiome influences mental and physical well-being, as well as your metabolic health – including blood sugar, blood pressure, liver and thyroid function. Ideal for anyone who wants to fully understand and optimize their health.

Tip: The more comprehensive the test, the clearer the picture of your (gut) health – and the more precisely you can take action to feel your best.

How exactly do the nutrition recommendations differ between the three tests?

The nutrition recommendations of the three myBioma microbiome tests differ primarily in scope and level of personalization:

Basic Test: The nutrition recommendations are based on the fundamental findings of your individual bacterial composition. You receive general, personalized tips on how to support your gut flora and improve your well-being. The focus is on simple, practical guidance suited for getting started with a gut-friendly diet.

Advanced Test: The recommendations here are more specific and directly address the connections between your gut microbiome and various health parameters, such as the immune system, inflammation, skin health, and weight. The nutrition tips are more detailed and also include guidance on how to use diet to address potential imbalances or complaints like leaky gut, SIBO, gluten sensitivity, or IBS. You’ll also receive recipe suggestions tailored to your individual needs.

Ultimate Test: The recommendations in the Ultimate Test are the most comprehensive. They also take into account the relationship between your microbiome, your mental well-being, and your metabolic health. The nutrition tips are even more precisely tailored to you and include advice on how to improve both your physical and mental health through diet and lifestyle to promote holistic well-being.

Summary: From Basic to Advanced to Ultimate, the recommendations become increasingly personalized, comprehensive, and specifically tailored to various health areas. While the Basic Test offers a general overview, the Advanced and Ultimate Tests provide targeted advice aligned with your personal health goals and challenges.

How is the price of the test made up?

Our aim is to offer you not the cheapest, but the best microbiome analysis. At the same time, it is part of our mission to make the test accessible to as many people as possible, which is why we make the price as fair as possible. The price covers all important components: from the analysis kit itself (including stool tubes, instructions and stool catcher), to the shipping and return of your sample, to the highly modern and complex laboratory analysis. This also includes the bioinformatic analysis and the preparation of your personalised recommendations. Behind these processes is a dedicated team that does everything from product development to logistics to ensure that your test is carried out smoothly and to the highest standard.

How often should I do a microbiome test?

Your gut microbiome is not only unique, but also dynamic - it changes with your diet, lifestyle, environmental factors and even stress. Regular testing helps you to monitor these changes and respond to them in a targeted manner. We therefore recommend checking your gut microbiome every 3-6 months.

What is the difference between the myBioma microbiome test and the free stool test at a local clinic?

A stool test at a clinic or general practitioner is usually based on stool cultures and is designed to specifically detect pathogens. These tests are useful for diagnosing infections. In contrast, the myBioma test provides a deeper analysis of the microbiome. Using state-of-the-art next-generation DNA sequencing, myBioma can identify over 1,500 different bacterial species and offers valuable insights into the composition and functions of your gut microbiome. This way, you not only learn which bacteria are present but also what role they play in your health.

      What makes myBioma so special?

myBioma stands out due to its exceptionally detailed microbiome analysis. While many other providers perform more basic tests, myBioma goes much deeper. We extract bacterial DNA, amplify it through PCR, and carry out precise NGS (Next-Generation Sequencing) analysis. This allows us to identify bacteria down to the species level, such asFaecalibacterium prausnitzii,Bifidobacterium bifidum, andAkkermansia muciniphila. This enables us to provide very specific insights into your microbiome. Additionally, myBioma is the first company worldwide to be certified for microbiome analysis according to ISO 13485, which highlights the high quality and reliability of our tests. We also use innovative algorithms to predict bacterial metabolic processes based on DNA analysis, allowing for an even more comprehensive evaluation.

Can the cost of the test be covered by my health insurance?

Some private health insurers cover certain costs. If you have private insurance, please contact us directly atreimbursement@mybioma.com, and we will assist you with submitting your myBioma invoice. If at least 50% of your myBioma invoice is reimbursed, we can help you with the remaining costs. Unfortunately, at present, statutory health insurance companies do not cover these costs.

Is my data safe with myBioma?

Protecting your data is our top priority. All your information is encrypted and stored on secure servers in Austria. We will never share your data with insurance companies, banks, or advertisers. Your privacy is very important to us, and you can trust that your data is safe with myBioma.

Do I have access to the raw data from my results?

Yes, we provide your raw data for direct download on the myBioma platform. You can find it under the „Info about the test“ section in your report overview.
